24 hour ECG
On 9th November 2018, the weekend I was spending with one of my besties Billie, I had to go and have my 24 hour ECG fitted on the Friday afternoon so that the hospital could see whether I was having heart palpaltations. It’s a relatively easy machine to attach to me and only took a few minutes. There was a student nurse who looked very overwhelmed when asked to attach the stickers to me. I asked her if she wanted to listen to my heart and she jumped at the opportunity telling me that I “was the first person like you I’ve ever listened to”.
The machine is surprisingly small and fits very neatly under a baggy jumper so no one on the tube home even noticed apart from the wires at the bottom.
That night I went to stay with Billie. We were originally going to go out but as I was getting more tired and had wires and stickers all over my chest we settled for movie and a festival of food. It was lovely to have some company because it’s times like this that I feel most vulnerable and worry.
When I arrived she had got us matching pj’s and a bottle of bubbles so we could chill comfortably on the sofa and have a glass of bubbles (my fave) while we wasted away the time chatting in front of the film.
While I am writing this it makes me think about all my amazing friends. Without them all I’d be lost. They ground me and keep me sane. It’s the kind Text’s, phonecalls, cards, hugs and visits I really appreciate. The voice the other end of the phone in the middle of the night when I wake having had nightmares or night sweats, or I’m just feeling down or unmotivated. I came across this quote that I love:
“Close friends are truly life’s treasures. Sometimes they know us better than we know ourselves. With gentle honesty they are there to guide and support us, to share our laughter and our tears. Their presence reminds us that we are never really alone.”
Once again Thankyou for all your support 😘😘💕 xxxxx
