When the going gets tough, the tough get going...
Firstly apologies that my post is so late, having not been very well followed by my sisters hen party, it’s just been manic!
So, where do I start? I managed, despite having had a painful flu jab to get flu...just what I needed. I tried to power through but alas it was stronger and I ended up curled up in a little ball in my bed not being able to move. I think everyone will agree that it’s the worst feeling because you simply can’t move!
Second to this I was trying to run around like a mad woman finalising all the details for my little sisters hen party (super important even when ill). The beginning of the hen was all about the family and bridesmaids, super civilised with nails, food, bubbles, food and of course more food. One thing I can claim to do extremely well in is consuming huge quantities of food on a daily basis (even when ill!). Part two was an adventure to Barcelona for fun in the sun. Two nights, 15 girls, what can go wrong?.....
I’ll leave all the details of the hen for another day, needless to say impressively all 15 ladies made their return flights, broken but alive.
I took Barcelona at a slower pace, still not quite 100%, we hired a wheelchair for me so I could partake in the treasure hunt. I could hear my grandmothers words of encouragement ringing in my ears “it’s the partaking that counts, everyone’s a winner” when I came last in my running races at school.
The main thing is that I was there, there to see my little sister Jools have to wear a ridiculous wedding dress and 80’s zebra print dress we bought off eBay for her (which weirdly she managed to look incredibly stylish in both). There to see her laughing surrounded by all her friends, see her racing around Barcelona with different clues while working out the answer to the treasure hunt. The laughter we shared as sisters with mummy over a delicious meal on the Friday night where the whole table roared with laughter at Jools’ previous childhood antics. These are all wonderfully happy memories now in the lead up to the wedding....and what a wedding it will be.
Over the last few weeks I’ve really been reminded of how lucky I am! The amount of support I have from all my friends, and my family. The team we are as a family, a united team, a fierce team, a loving team but at the end of the day an incredible team. We are there for one another through thick and thin, fiercely protective but yet at the same time gloriously independent. So as my journey ventures on I want to thank all of you. Those who make me laugh when I feel sorry for myself, those who hug me when I’m feeling vulnerable, the calls, texts... THANKYOU xxx
